New Delhi: Congress leader from Maharashtra Narayan Rane today met party Vice President Rahul Gandhi days after he quit the Prithviraj Chavan ministry seeking a leadership change in the poll-bound state.

Mr Rane, who had resigned on Monday from the state government, met Mr Gandhi to explain his stand on the need for a change of guard in the state.

The rebel leader met Mr Gandhi close on the heels of AICC seeking to mollify leaders like him as also Himanta Biswa Sarma, who had quit the Tarun Gogoi ministry.

Mr Rane is likely to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi tomorrow along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and PCC chief Manikrao Thakre.

Mr Rane has been maintaining for last many days that results of assembly elections would not be different from the Lok Sabha polls in the state if they were fought under the present leadership.

Meanwhile, on the resignation of two ministers in Assam, party spokesperson Rajeev Gowda said "these were internal dynamics", which were part and parcel of activities in a political party and if there were any trouble "the high command would resolve it".
