Itanagar: Maharashtra government has decided to arrange for chartered flights from Guwahati to bring students from Northeast back to educational institutions in Pune or Mumbai.
During a meeting on Tuesday with the a goodwill team from Arunachal Pradesh, led by MP Takan Sanjoy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said concessional chartered flights would be offered to students willing to come back to their educational institutions.
In a statement, Sanjoy quoted Mr Chavan as saying, "If state governments send written requisitions, officials will be ready to receive students at airports to escort them to their institutions with full security."
Mr Chavan asked the goodwill team to prepare a list of all students from North-East studying in various cities in Maharashtraa and promised allotting land near major educational institutions in the state for constructing hostels for them.
Appreciating the initiative of the Arunachal Pradesh government to send the goodwill team, the Maharashtra Chief Minister said another plot of land will be allotted in Mumbai for construction of Arunachal Bhawan.
