Kingfisher Airlines engineers go on strike over non-payment of salary
Mumbai A section of engineers of the Kingfisher Airlines went on strike last evening over non-payment of salaries, affecting the flight operations.

"Engineers from New Delhi and Mumbai bases are on strike demanding immediate payment of salaries which remain unpaid for the past seven months," Kingfisher sources told PTI this evening.

Sources said, some flights were delayed due to the strike, adding that services of manager-rank engineers are being used now.

As per the aviation watchdog DGCA norms, an aircraft can't take off unless its air worthiness is certified by the airline's engineers.

Kingfisher management, which has not paid salaries to most of its staff since March, had a meeting with representatives of employees last week, but failed to give any firm assurance.

The Vijay Mallya-owned airline is saddled with bank loans of Rs 7,000 crore which it has not serviced since January.
