Key Meeting to Decide BJP's UP Strategy in Vrindavan Today

The high-level meeting will be addressed by BJP president Amit Shah (C) and Home Minister Rajnath Singh (R)

Lucknow: A two-day meet of the BJP's Uttar Pradesh unit will begin in the temple town of Vrindavan today.

The high-level meeting, that aims at evolving a strategy to take on the ruling Samajwadi Party in the state, will be addressed by BJP president Amit Shah and union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, state unit spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said yesterday.

But sources say Mr Shah will not be going for the inaugural function of the meet as he has to hold meetings with leaders of four poll-bound states to discuss campaign plans and ticket distribution.

State party president Laxmikant Bajpayi said the party was not only focussed on exposing the Akhilesh Yadav government but was also trying to evolve an agenda of its own. "After the state executive, we will also come out with a roadmap for the people of the state," he said.

Political resolutions to expose the "communal bent" of the SP government and other political activity related to reaching out to the grass root level cadres is also likely to be taken up at the state executive, a senior office bearer said.
