Italian Deputy Defence Minister Admiral (Retd) Giampaolo Di Paola is arriving in Kochi on Saturday night to meet the two Italian marines facing trial for shooting dead two Indian fishermen in February this year.
Mr Di Paola is likely to meet Massimiliano Latore and Salvatore Girone tonight or on Sunday morning, sources said.
Mr Latore and Mr Girone are out on bail. The two were on an Italian ship off the Alapuzha coast when they shot the two fishermen, mistaking them to be pirates. They were arrested on February 20.
Mr Di Paolo visited them last on March 30 when they were in Thiruvananathapuram central prison.
The two marines yesterday appealed in the Kerala High Court that their bail conditions be relaxed to allow them to visit Italy for Christmas.
