Kannauj woman alleges rape, attempts suicide

Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh: A woman was allegedly raped by two men, after which she set herself on fire in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. She has alleged that she was raped by two men from her village, Nandepurwa, which is part of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife, Dimple Yadav's, constituency.
 
The woman lodged her complaint on Sunday, after returning from a Kanpur hospital where she was sent for treatment of her burn injuries. 

So far, the police have only registered a case of attempt to suicide. The reports of her medical examination are awaited to verify whether she was sexually assaulted.
