India's numbers of shame: 72 per cent rural children anaemic

New DelhiAn UNICEF report says that 72 per cent of India's rural children are anaemic, and 46 per cent are underweight.  The report also says that 71 per cent of the poor children living in the urban areas are anemic, which is a shocking number.

Millions of children are growing up in squalid urban areas and denied basic services despite living close to them, according to some of the shocking findings of the  United Nations Children's Fund.

According to the report, children growing up in cities are better off than those in rural areas, which often leads to missing the plight of poor, urban children.
