ICSE Council Places its Chief Executive under Suspension

New Delhi: The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has placed its chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon under suspension on charges of promoting text books written by his wife without seeking the executive body's approval.

The council conducts the ICSE and ISC examinations and has around 1,800 schools affiliated to it.

The decision of the council has been emailed to all school heads while Mr Arathoon has been given 15 days to reply to the council.

Under the council's rules, every official must inform the council and take its approval before starting the sales of books if it has been written by officials or relatives.

Confirming the development, Chairman of the Council Father Jose Aikera said they were awaiting the response of Mr Arathoon before they decide on the next course of action.

Anita, Mr Arathoon's wife, had authored two textbooks of class nine and class ten. Their books were published last year and Mr Arathoon had allegedly not informed the council about this
