As India celebrates its 68th Independence Day, Google pays its respect with the Friday's tri-coloued doodle evoking nostalgia of the historic day.
While the letters on the Google homepage are in the colours of India's national flag, the doodle features India's first postal stamp issued on 21st November 1947, post the country's independence.
Click on the doodle and the search takes you to the history of India's postal system, first established in 1837, which has connected the nation beyond state borders.
India's tricolour and the words 'Jai Hind' decorated on the stamp are reminders of the country's freedom struggle and also carry the reminiscence of the Independent India's initial steps towards foreign correspondence and a greater role in world politics.
The doodle is stamped with 15th August, 1947, the day of India's independence and the beginning of its journey to build a strong nation.
