Five Workers Killed in an Explosion at a Fuse Company near Raipur

Chote Urla: Five workers were killed in an explosion at a detonating fuse company near Raipur in Chhattisgarh early Friday morning, police officials confirmed.

The incident was reported at the Navbharat Fuse Company located in Chote Urla village in Abhanpur block, 40 kilometers away from Raipur.

The blast reportedly took place around 3 am when the explosives kept in a room went off.

The supervisor of the factory who was outside the factory premises at the time of the explosion escaped unhurt and later informed the police about the incident, Raipur Superintendent of Police O P Pal told Press Trust of India.

Mr Pal added that while the cause of the blast is being investigated, a case has been registered in connection with the incident.

The deceased have been identified as Komal Singh Thakur, Rekhram Sahu, Ganeesh Harvansh, Makhanlal Nirmalkar and Punauram Yadav, who are all natives of nearby areas, the SP said.

A police team has reached the spot and recovered all the bodies, Mr Pal said.
