'Excellent': David Cameron's Reviewing of Meeting with PM Modi

British PM David Cameron in an interview to NDTV in Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane: British Prime Minister David Cameron, who met PM Modi today on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Brisbane, Australia, described the meeting as "excellent," in an interview to NDTV.

"The key issue really is to identify the potential of partnership between India and Britain. I have invited Prime Minister Modi to visit us and I am looking forward to working with him in the coming months and years," said PM Cameron.

The British Prime Minister also told NDTV that both countries have the same approach toward combating terrorism.

"Both agree to challenge the narrative of extremism that has grown up. It's a challenge for India and challenge for Britain, whether that's wanting a successful and stable Afghanistan, which we discussed or seeking peace in other parts of the world," said PM Cameron.

Perhaps, PM Cameron's reference was to the challenge Britain was facing in the form of its youth joining as fighters in Iraq and Syria. Similarly, India too has been on the radar of the Taliban in recent times.

"We both have important struggles against extremism and terrorism which we are committed to fighting together," said PM Cameron.

Apart from terrorism, the two leaders discussed areas of mutual cooperation, such as education and urban planning, especially with regard to building smart cities, a pet project of PM Modi.

"Britain has a lot to offer, not just in terms of construction activity but also planning and design," said PM Cameron.
