Srinagar: A woman has been killed and another civilian was injured in the crossfire when the Army's ambush party fired at the suspected militants in the Hafruda forest area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
The woman succumbed to her injuries after reaching the hospital, sources said.
A Defence spokesman also said that two civilians were injured in the firing last night after which the operation was stopped to evacuate the injured.
The police have denied reports that militants have abducted villagers during the encounter.
