Mumbai: Today, BJP's Devendra Fadnavis addressed the media for the first time after becoming Maharashtra chief minister. Mr Fadnavis was sworn-in earlier today at a ceremony at the Wankhede stadium.

Here are the highlights:

  • I understand my responsibilities.
  • Common man suffers because there is a lack of transparency and efficiency.
  • People have to keep visiting govt offices for information. Will bring in a transparent system of governance.
  • It is known that the state faces a huge fiscal deficit.
  • Will take presentations from each department so that I know where each department stands.
  • There are mistakes in governance but I assure you if we make mistakes, it will not have any malafide intentions.
  • There needs to be a sense of urgency in development. Many projects need to be completed.
  • All these years, when I took a presser, I didn't have any sense of nervousness. Today I do.
