Congress MLA disrupts Arvind Kejriwal's press conference, calls AAP 'Radio Jhootistan'

Asif Mohammad Khan started shouting when the Chief Minister was speaking about fulfilling promises in the AAP manifesto.

New Delhi: A Congress lawmaker today disrupted Arvind Kejriwal's one-month anniversary press conference deriding his Aam Aadmi Party government as "radio Jhootistan (liars)."

The MLA, Asif Mohammad Khan, started shouting when the Chief Minister was speaking about fulfilling promises in the AAP manifesto, including a special probe into the 1984 anti-Sikh riots after the assassination of then prime minister Indira Gandh by her Sikh bodyguards.

"These people making false promises. They have betrayed Delhi. The Congress should withdraw support," Mr Khan said. His party, the Congress, provides external support to the AAP government.

The MLA demanded a probe by a Special Investigation Team into the 2008 killing of suspected terrorists by the Delhi Police in Batla House, claiming that it had been promised in the AAP manifesto for Delhi polls.

At the press conference earlier, Mr Kejriwal asserted that a Special Investigation Team needs to probe the 1984 riots. Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has asked the state government to send a formal proposal.

Listing his month-old government's achievements, the Chief Minister patted himself on the back for bringing in an honest, simplistic government and cracking down on corruption.
