Caught on Camera: Samajwadi Party MLA's Supporters Thrash Toll Plaza Employees

Supporters of Samajwadi Party MLA Abhay Singh caught on CCTV cameras beating a toll plaza employee

Barabanki: In a fresh controversy for the Samajwadi Party, already facing flak for the ostentatious birthday celebrations for its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, supporters of one of its legislators have been caught on camera, brutally beating up toll plaza employees in broad daylight.

The incident happened in Barabanki district around 11 am on Friday when personnel manning the Ahmadpur toll booth allegedly stopped the Scorpio car of Gosainganj MLA Abhay Singh for entering the wrong lane. This reportedly angered Mr Singh's supporters - traveling with him in his convoy - who got into a heated argument with the toll booth employees.

They were soon joined by more men who arrived in three Fortuner cars. While one is seen grabbing a toll booth employee by his shirt in footage from CCTV cameras at the toll booth, the other is seen thrashing a toll booth employee mercilessly with a stick. The hapless toll attendant was assaulted in full public view as other vehicles passed through the toll plaza.

"They beat up our toll plaza attendant and a guard... we have footage of the entire  incident.. our attendant is severely injured," said Kuldeep Singh, a toll booth employee.

One of the victims alleged that the MLA, Abhay Singh, sat in his car and watched while they were being attacked.

The police are yet to file a case in connection with the incident.
