Caught on Camera: Gujarat Law-Maker Thrashes Man Reportedly For Being Drunk

Ahmedabad: A BJP law-maker in Gujarat's Saurashtra region has been caught on camera beating a youth.

The youth reportedly had an argument with the security staff of Kanti Amrutya, the MLA from Morbi, on Monday morning after which the politician, who was touring the area, joined in and started beating the youth with a stick.

The video captured by a by-stander shows the young man being dragged by Mr Amrutya's securityman and the MLA beating him with stick. Though some policemen were present on the spot, no one tried to stop the MLA.

Ironically, while the police has lodged a prohibition case against the youth based on Mr Amrutya's complaint that he was drunk, no action has been taken against the MLA.

Mr Amrutya was convicted for a murder in 2004 by a lower court but acquitted by high court three years later.
