Satna: BJP leader Gagnendra Singh and his supporters were caught on camera purportedly thrashing five people working at a franchise of a major vehicle manufacturing firm in Satna, after they refused to give him some spare parts on credit and asked him to clear the previous dues.

The visuals purportedly showing Mr Singh, who also happens to be Satna district panchayat president, and his supporters bashing up the personnel, including branch manager, have been aired by news channels since yesterday when the incident is believed to have taken place.

Mr Singh, son of former Congress MLA Rampratap Singh, sent a man to the company's motor spare parts shop, located at Bharothnagar Colony, to get some material on credit but the personnel there refused to oblige and asked the man to convey to Mr Singh to clear the previous dues.

Infuriated by the denial, Mr Singh, along with his men, allegedly stormed into the shop and thrashed the branch manager and other staffers.

When contacted, SP (City) Sitaram Yadav said that he came to know about Mr Singh attacking the employees from news reports.

"However, police have not booked anybody in the case so far as no complaint is received," he said.

The BJP leader could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
