Barabanki:
A private car, fitted with a blue beacon and with state government written on its number-plate, hit a bicycle on October 23 in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh killing one person and injuring another critically. The driver of the car, Arun Kumar, has been arrested.
The car, a white Toyota Etios, is registered in the name of Ajit Pratap Singh, brother of RN Singh, a Lokayukta official in Deoria.
On his arrest, Kumar confessed that Ajit Pratap Singh was in the car as well and told him not to stop after the accident. The police has booked both under section 307 /120 B (attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy).
Ram Kishan, who is currently undergoing treatment at a Lucknow hospital, was flung onto the car's roof by the force of the accident, which happened near the Ahmedpur toll plaza. The accident was captured by the the CCTV camera at the plaza. The car had sped away immediately.
The Barabanki police has arrested the driver and registered an FIR in the case. The government official's brother is also slated to be questioned soon.
