Patna:  After Wednesday's display of rowdism in the state assembly, a new low for  Bihar. Police brutality at its worst on Patna's main throughfare.

The police today resorted to lathi-charge to disperse a groups of unruly RJD youth-wing workers. About 500 RJD workers were protesting, near the state assembly building,  the expulsion of the 64 MLAs from the Bihar Vidhan Sabha yesterday. The protesters stoned a few vehicles , including an official. Many of the RJD workers were injured on their head, and say the police resorted to using excessive force.

64 opposition legislators were expelled from the Bihar Assembly, on Wednesday,  for misbehavior, for the rest of the Monsoon Session. Seventeen had to be forcibly evicted from the house by marshals, after slippers were hurled at the Speaker.

The house also witnessed rowdy scenes on Tuesday, with MLAs hurling tables. The squabble, which escalated into a free-for-all, was over what to debate during working hours. The BJP and JD(U) wanted to discuss price rise and the failings of the Central government. The RJD was demanding, instead, a debate on last week's Patna High Court order asking for a CBI inquiry into the alleged bungling of funds to the tune of Rs 11000 crore between 2002 and 2008.
