Bangalore blasts: Court denies bail to Madani
Bangalore: A Bangalore court dismissed the bail plea of Abdul Nasar Madani, an accused in the Bangalore serial blasts case of 2008, on Monday. The PDP leader, chargesheeted only recently in this case, was arrested by Karnataka police in Kerala after a week of drama and fears of law and order disturbances.

Bangalore was not hit as hard as some other cities that have face terrorist attacks as a result of the serial blast but the attack led to a reign of terror in the IT city. A woman waiting at a bus stop was tragically killed in the attack. Perhaps the most high-profile among those chargesheeted in the case, PDP leader Abdul Nasar Madani, was not granted bail.

Public Prosecutor K. Rudraswamy said, "This is a serious of the serious case. Some terrorist activity is involved in this case so under such circumstances the honourable Court has to think over the gravity and nature of the offences, seriousness of the offences."

But Madani's legal team has not given up hopes of a bail although it is usually not granted in cases of alleged terrorism.

Madani's advocate P. Usman said that "the court has ruled that there is prima facie material produced by the prosecution to connect Mr. Abdul Nasar Madani with the commission of the offence. He has not accepted the arguments advanced by me. Definitely we will be trying before the honourable High Court."

The Bangalore serial blasts of 2008 left a woman dead and also left the city in a state of panic. The Court decided that it was too serious a charge for the accused, Abdul Nasar Madani, to be granted a bail.
