Army Orders Inquiry Against Brigadier Accused of Misbehaving With Jawans in Poonch

Poonch: An inquiry has been ordered against a Brigadier, commanding a brigade in the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir, for allegedly misbehaving with his own jawans.

Sources in the Army told NDTV that the Brigadier has been asked to proceed on leave pending the inquiry.

The Brigadier, commanding the brigade at the Line of Control with Pakistan, had assumed command three to four months ago. This brigade, with a large area of responsibility, is crucial to India's defences.

But it has been in the news for all the wrong reasons for the past 18 months. An Indian soldier was beheaded in the same area last year.

There have been several ceasefire violations in this sector for the past two years.
