Anxious Moments in Parliament as Car Rams Into Boom Barriers
New Delhi: Anxious moments were witnessed in Parliament premises yesterday as an alarm went off, triggered after a car "inadvertently" rammed into boom barriers at one of the entries to the heavily-guarded complex that has been targeted by terrorists once.

As soon as the alarm went off, a gypsy carrying commandos rushed towards the gate and blocked the entry.

Amid anxious moments, journalists and lensmen also rushed to catch the developments.

However, a security official soon after clarified that the car, with MP sticker, unintentionally pressed boom barriers triggering the alarm. He said there was nothing to worry about.

Parliament was targeted on December 13, 2001 when five terrorists, travelling in a white Ambassador car with red beacon light, stormed the complex. All the attackers were killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel.

Subsequently, security apparatus was beefed up which included placing of boom barriers and tyre killers to prevent any unathorised vehicle from entering.
