Mumbai: Four railways employees were run over by a long-distance train while they were inspecting the tracks this morning between Thakurli and Kalyan stations in Maharashtra's Thane district.

The railway employees were run over by the Kolhapur-bound Koyna Express which had departed from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai.

News agency PTI, citing sources, said Jaychand Gangaram (53), Dattaray Devaji (56), Pandurang Kashinath (53) and Hari Nana (58) could not make out that a fast train was coming and died on the spot.

The bodies have been sent to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident came a day after eight people were killed in a similar manner in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district. (Read)
