Call Centre Worker From Mizoram Killed in South Delhi Flat

The victim was found dead in her house in Munirka area.

New Delhi: A young woman from Mizoram was found dead at her South Delhi apartment with multiple stab wounds; the man she lived with, an engineering student, has been detained and police sources say he is the main suspect. The victim was a call centre worker.

The crime comes barely 24 hours after two men from the North East, both call centre workers, were beaten with cricket bats in the room they rent in Gurgaon near Delhi. They said the gang that attacked them shouted racial slurs at them.

Though hate attacks against people from the North East have been occurring with alarming frequency in Delhi, the police say that the murder in South Delhi does not seem to have any racist angle.

Juliet Zonunmawi, 24, was found dead early this morning in her house in South Delhi's Munirka area. Her landlord had heard her arguing with her boyfriend and entered the flat to check on her, said police sources to NDTV.

"The victim was lying in a pool of blood and had head injuries," a police official told news agency IANS.
