14 Dead in Uttar Pradesh Rains Induced by Hudhud

Lucknow: Widespread rains in Uttar Pradesh, induced by Hudhud cyclone, have so far claimed 14 lives and left 13 others injured.

"As per the reports obtained from 21 eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh, 14 people lost their lives and 13 others were injured due to the impact of recent Hudhud cyclone," Secretary and Relief Commissioner Leena Johri said in Lucknow today.


The official said that in view of forecast of heavy rains and speedy wind in parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, government had issued directives to the officials concerned to make all preparations in advance.

She said while four people were killed and six injured in Gorakhpur, three people lost their lives and four injured in Barabanki, two in Azamgarh and one each died Kushinagar, Gonda, Faizabad, Ambedkarnagar and Basti.

Two people in Faizabad and one in Bahraich, she said, adding some cattleheads also perished.
