The school where a Class 5 student was allegedly injured in genitals by teacher
A 10-year-old student of a private school in Andhra Pradesh had to get stitches after being allegedly injured in his genitals by a teacher.
The boy, a class five student of the school in Rajahmundry in East Godavari district, alleges that his teacher "pinched" him as punishment.
"We were coming down and a boy pushed me. Sir got angry and pinched me with his nail. By the time I came down, I was bleeding,'' he said.
The accused man, a math teacher, said the child was running and was about to fall, so he caught him and the boy got hurt accidentally.
"Believe me I did not do it deliberately,'' he said to the media.
In local TV footage, the boy was seen with blood on his pants.
The school has reportedly given a written apology to his parents but there is no police case against the teacher so far. Senior police officer N. Babji said a case would be registered when the boy's parents gave a written complaint.
Sources say the family has been "advised" against filing a complaint as the boy has two siblings in the same school.
An inspector of the state Education Department disclosed that the school had been warned twice before.
"This is the third incident. So we believe abuse is happening. We will investigate whether qualified teachers are there to handle correctly. Otherwise we will de-recognise the school," the official said.
The boy's mother said, "This is not the first time this has happened. Every day I feel worried and tense about what they may be subjected to in school."
