Nearly three students will vie for one seat this year in Delhi University which has received nearly 1.3 lakh application forms against 49,000 seats for undergraduate courses.
The varsity on Thursday announced that it has got 1,29,038 application forms, including 1,13,636 in general and 12,427 in SC and 2,599 in ST categories.
Interestingly, the number of seats reversed for ST and physically handicapped students are much higher than the number of applicants in both the categories.
There are 3,723 seats reserved for ST students while 2,599 application forms have been received. Similarly, 376 applications have been received from physically handicapped students for whom 1,489 seats are reserved.
The varsity had sold 1,63,894 forms. The number of female applicants is 56,644, the university said. The total number of seats available for undergraduate courses at the university is 49,640, including 10,183 for OBCs and 7,446 for SCs.
Of the admission seekers, 87,414 have passed out of senior secondary school from CBSE and 4,235 from ISC board.
While 3,619 students are from UP board, 1,629 are from Bihar state board and 2,099 from Haryana board.
