In a sharp attack on
Narendra Modi and his Gujarat model of development, ruling AIADMK today claimed Tamil Nadu was far ahead of that state in several indices, including attracting investments, and said his "gimmicks" would not work in the state.
"It is only the two leaves (AIADMK party symbol) that stand like the Himalayas in Tamil Nadu though Modi has been doing gimmicks claiming there is a wave" the party said in its mouthpiece 'Dr Namathu MGR'.
The article claimed Tamil Nadu attracted foreign investments worth 14,686 crore in 2012-13, whereas Gujarat received just Rs 2,640 crore.
Citing several growth indices, including human resources development, literacy and electricity consumers, the ruling party claimed Tamil Nadu was far ahead of Gujarat.
The party, however, did not disclose the source of the data based on which it was making the claim.
AIADMK also took a dig at BJP for its candidate not being able to even properly file his nomination papers in Nilgiris (SC) constituency.
The party also said, Mr Modi had become aware that nothing would work out for BJP-led NDA in Tamil Nadu and that was why he was criticising AIADMK.
