NDTV Opinion Poll: near status quo in Punjab for Congress, Akali-BJP

New Delhi: NDTV's opinion poll shows almost a repeat of the previous election for both the Congress and the Akali Dal-BJP combine.

The Congress is expected to win seven of Punjab's 13 seats, down one from the 2009 election. The Akali Dal and BJP are expected to win six, one more than they currently have.

The opinion poll conducted a month ago had also shown a status quo.

The Akali Dal has governed the state since 2007 and bucked the trend of anti-incumbency in the assembly polls held two years ago.

Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party is predicted to garner a debut vote share of 11 per cent, but this may not be enough to fetch it a seat.
