CWG: Wrestling sisters make India proud
New Delhi: India wrestlers have clinched 15 medals in the Delhi games till now and six of them have come from girls. And it is the state of Haryana, which is struggling to improve its gender ratio because of female infanticide, that is the breeding ground for these medalists.

Bhiwani has always been popular for its boxers but now the women wrestlers are also shining and now the same village is celebrating Anita's gold medal.

Anita won in the 67 kg category but few people in Bhiwani saw it on TV, since they are in short supply there. But that has not disappointed her.

"I had the confidence to beat the Canadian wrestler Megan Budyens because she is a tough competitor. I am very happy to have beaten her," Anita said.

Meanwhile, Haryana's Alka Tomar's came up with a convincing win in the 59 kg category where she beat Tonya Verbeek, the silver medalist from the Athens Olympics.

"I am very happy to have won the gold medal. I wasn't convinced about my win till I heard the wild cheering and the celebrations around, "Alka Tomar said.

"Geeta, India's first woman to win a wrestling Gold in the Commonwealth Games, was cheering her sister Babita, who was competing for a gold.

The family of five champion sisters sure has lots to be proud of.
