A 20-year-old woman in Bangalore has been in an unconscious state for 13 days now after she was brutally assaulted earlier this month, according to the police. Doctors say with serious injuries to her head, the woman may have lost her memory.
The woman was reportedly struck by a stone on her head repeatedly. She was admitted to the Victoria Hospital in a critical condition on February 4 and had to undergo an operation due to a blood clot she developed in her head after the attack.
Medical tests are also being conducted to determine if the woman was raped.
No arrests have been made in the case so far.
"This woman seems to have been gang raped. Her injuries are very serious. This state government is not serious about such cases or any cases. All those in power want to protect the culprits," says former Karnataka minister Shobha Kharandlaje, who resigned last month.
Two days ago, a five-year-old girl's body was found in a pit in Bangalore's Kodichikkanahalli area. Police suspect she too was raped and murdered.
