A team of police officers from Kandivli is headed to Gujarat to arrest a 60-year-old baba, who allegedly molested Rehana Katharia (33), a resident of Kandivli, on the pretext of helping her get rid of her problems.
According to the complaint filed by Rehana with the Kandivli police on July 10, Hazrat Ikram Ali, a resident of Baroda, allegedly tried to molest her claiming he was God. He then suggested that her daughter Sophiya (15) should have physical relations with the baba and Rehana's second husband Yusuf Katharia (51), who is a businessman in London.
Ali, who would visit the couple whenever Yusuf was in India, also advised them to sacrifice their son, as it would bring them luck.
Rehana alleged that Yusuf and her mother-in-law constantly coerced her to sacrifice her three-year-old son Rafiq (name changed). This had been going on since 2007.
Rehana said that her husband also fancied Sophiya, who is her daughter from her first marriage. He wanted to get Rafiq killed, so that he could usurp the property and had hired the baba to convince Rehana to 'sacrifice' their son.
Rehana told MiD DAY, "I was scared, so I moved to a different location with my children. But they followed me and threatened me twice to give up my son and pay them Rs 10 lakh."
Fed up with the harassment by Ali and Yusuf's men, Rehana approached the police. When contacted Ali agreed that Yusuf was his friend. He, however, denied molesting Rehana or suggesting child sacrifice.
ACP Musa Sheikh, said, "She had earlier given a letter and after investigation we filed a complaint against them. We are now headed to Baroda to arrest Ali."
Police are also waiting for Yusuf and his mother Amina (70) to return from London and have alerted the airport police to look out for them. They have been charged with dowry and harassment.
Advocate Mahesh Vaswani said, "We have filed the complaint and want the culprits to be put behind bars for harassing the lady. The baba is the root of all the trouble and we want him to be arrested, and justice to be served."
