A woman in Haryana was gang-raped allegedly by two men who offered her lift to a religious function in their vehicle, police said today. The accused have been arrested.
The incident, according to the victim, took place Friday in Sirsa town, 260 km from Chandigarh.
The accused, Naveen and Ashok, have been booked for gang-rape and criminal intimidation, police said.
The woman told the police that she was walking towards the venue of a religious function on the outskirts of Sirsa town when a car stopped near her in which three men were present.
She claimed that the occupants of the car told her that they were also headed to the venue of the function and offered her lift, police said.
According to the police, the woman said that the men took her to a vacant plot in Sirsa's Sector 20 and two of them gang-raped her, while the third man stood there.
