Ahmedabad: A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing a 15-day-old child from the neo-natal care unit of a hospital in Paldi area here today, police said.
Officials said that the accused, Shabana Hussain (22), was arrested from the Isanpur area of the city where she lived. The new-born baby boy has been rescued and the accused is being questioned.
The boy was a premature baby born to Jyoti Rajput (24) who had delivered twins (a boy and a girl) on February 22. The babies were admitted to V S Hospital's neo-natal care unit as they were premature.
The hospital authorities have suspended two staff nurse and two security guards of the unit for negligence, following the incident, they said.
