Two-year-old boy rescued after falling into 10-ft-deep pit in Gurgaon

GurgaonA two-year-old boy who fell into a 10-feet-deep in Choma village near Palam Vihar in Gurgaon this evening has been rescued. The toddler, Sachin, has no visible injuries but he has been taken to a hospital for a check-up for minor injuries.

Sachin was playing when he fell into the pit which had been dug by the electricity department for earthing purposes.

Immediately, the police, an ambulance and fire fighters rushed to the spot for rescue operations. Sachin was pulled out within an hour.

Following the incident, an FIR has also been lodged against a Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), junior engineer and the private contractor responsible for digging the pit.

The incident comes just days after five-year-old Mahi fell into a borewell in Gurgaon's Khaow village. Her body was pulled out after an 85-hour-long rescue operation. Doctors said she died probably in the first few hours after falling in the borewell.
