Transport operator shot dead in Delhi

New Delhi: A 25-year-old transport operator was shot dead by a motorcycle-borne assailant here, police said on Saturday.

Dheeraj Saini, a resident of north Delhi's Swarup Nagar, was shot dead around 9.30 pm on Friday outside his house.

"He was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital where doctors declared him dead," said a police officer.

Mr Saini, who owns a minibus which he utilises for his small travel business, and his friend were chatting when the assailant approached them and fled after shooting him, the officer added.

"Initial enquiry has revealed that the incident was probably triggered by personal enmity. A case of murder has been registered and the case is being probed from all possible angles," the officer added.
