Three of family buried alive after house roof collapse

Ambala: Three members of a family, including a teenaged boy, were buried alive when the roof of their rented house collapsed in Ambala in the wee hours on Thursday, police said.

Kala Ram (55), Neelam (45) and Manni (15) died after being buried under the debris, SHO (City) Ram Niwas said.

The owner of the house, Rajesh, who lives nearby, told reporters that he saw in the morning that the roof had fallen and Kala Ram and his family members were buried under the debris.

He said he informed the police and fire brigade.

According to information, the house was old and not in good condition.

The victims were rushed to civil hospital where they were declared brought dead, the SHO said.

The bodies would be handed over to their relatives after postmortem, Niwas said.
