Three men run over by train

Ghaziabad: Three men were today run over by a train in Maharajpur area of the district when they were taking photographs on the railway tracks, police said.

The victims - identified as Ishwar, Monu and Kamal - were residents of Janata Colony in Delhi's Shahdara area, local SHO Upendra Kumar Yadav said, adding that one of their friends escaped unhurt.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, he added. Angry over the incident, a group of locals staged a protest demanding construction of an underpass in the area to avert such mishaps, Mr Yadav said.

They were, however, pacified on an assurance by Ghaziabad Development Authority Vice Chairman Santosh Yadav that their demand will be considered.

Meanwhile in a similar incident, a 26-year-old man identified as Sonu was run over by a goods train in Loni area in Ghaziabad, police said.

The victim had plugged in earphones due to which he could not hear the sound of the train, they added.
