Thane: Participating in a funeral has now become much more easier at Badlapur in neighbouring Thane district as the municipal council is providing online funeral services for the sake of near and dear ones.
"Close on the heels of facilities available in Gujarat, we are also providing online funeral services," city President Rajendra Ghorpade said yesterday.
Under this innovative service, not only the Manjarli crematorium which was damaged in the 2005 floods is being renovated but more and better facilities will be provided at a cost of Rs 55 lakh, he said.
In all five pedestal web cameras will be installed which will be linked to the central server at the municipal head quarters and anyone across the globe can witness the funeral rites being conducted at the crematorium, he said.
A stadium will also be built in the premises to accommodate around 500 people who can witness the funeral, Ghorpade said.
