Ghaziabad:
Six unidentified armed robbers barged into the house of a transporter in Govindpuram in Ghaziabad in the wee hours and decamped with cash and jewellery worth over Rs 25 lakh, police said today.
Around 3:30 am in the night all the six robbers entered the double-storied house after breaking a window grill of the house on the ground floor, Rohan Mitra, son of the transporter victim Surendra Raj Mitra said.
First they took my grandmother hostage and used her as a shield to loot cash and jewellery. Later, I and rest of my family were also held hostage, he said.
"They took keys of almirahs and searched all the valuables. All six, faces covered with mufflers, were speaking local dialect and every member was addressing their head as 'Gurujee'.
"While decamping, the robbers took away batteries and SIM cards of all our mobile phones, uprooted the CCTV circuit box, cash worth Rs 7.5 lakh, jewellery worth Rs 18 lakh and our licensed pistol," Rohan said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ran Vijay Singh told that a team of forensic experts have been called in. Several samples have been lifted.
An FIR has been lodged against unidentified six assailants, Mr Singh said.
We have recorded the statements of all family members and have reached the conclusion that someone from the gang of robbers is very well acquainted with the victim family as all of them were knowing exact locations of the money and valuables kept inside the house, he said.
They were also calling the victims by their names. Very soon the case will be solved and the culprits will be behind the bars, he added.
