Shimla:
Normal life on Wednesday came to a halt in tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh as heavy snowfall triggered avalanches in the state, while Shimla recorded highest rainfall of 76 mm, breaking a 105-year-old record when it received 63.5 mm rain on February 2,1908.
Three people were injured as houses collapsed after an avalanche hit a cluster of houses in Kinnaur, 190 km from Shimla.
Avalanche also occurred at Jhangi, Malling and some other areas but there was no report of any casualty.
The snowfall has cut off the entire belt from rest of the state and people in Kinnaur are without electricity for the past 20 hours as transmission lines have snapped due heavy snow which triggered landslides and uprooted trees.
Meanwhile, Shimla and Manali received another spell of fresh snowfall. Shimla recorded 25 cm snow, while Manali received 50 cm snow.
Renuka in Sirmaur district received 150 mm rains, while Dharampur received 106 mm rainfall.
Shimla recorded a low of zero degree C and Manali reeled at -1.6 degree C.
