Shimla: Intelligence Bureau Official Among Five Killed in Road Accident

Shimla: Five persons, including an Intelligence Bureau (IB) official, were killed and dozen others injured in two separate road accidents in Shimla on Sunday.

Tashi Thakur, an IB official, posted in Shimla was killed on the spot when his vehicle veered off the road near Sainj, police said.

Three other persons, who were injured in the accident, admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and hospital, they said.

In a separate incident, four labourers were killed and eight others were injured, five of them seriously, when a canter rolled down into a gorge near Nankhari in Rampur area of Shimla district.

The injured were admitted to civil hospital, Khaneri and to IGMC Shimla, police said, adding that the deceased were identified as Suresh, Ram Prasad, Umesh and Simerjeet, all of them hailing from Jammu.

DSP Rampur, Som Dutt, rushed to the spot immediately along with ambulance and medical team and conducted rescue operations there.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post mortem and a case has been registered in this regard, police added.
