School boy killed as truck hits autorickshaw

Mumbai: A six-year-old school boy was killed and five others injured when a truck collided with an autorickshaw ferrying students in a Maharashtra town on Thursday, police said.

Bhavishya Suvarna of the Don Bosco High School was killed and other students from the same school, aged between four and six years, were injured in Nashik city, some 175 km from Mumbai.

"The incident took place in the afternoon when the autorickshaw carrying six school children was on its way to drop them home after school," an official from Nashik's Gangapur Police Station told IANS.

Autorickshaw driver Suresh Jadhav was also injured, he said.

"The autorickshaw overturned after the speeding truck rammed into it," the official said.
