Rain Lashes Delhi; Waterlogging in Several Areas

New Delhi: Light to moderate rain lashed parts of the national capital today leading to rise in humidity level and waterlogging in several areas.

"Moderate rain was registered in the national capital with Safdarjung observatory recording 35.8 mm at 2:30 pm", according to the MeT office.

"The reading at other observatories at the same time were - Palam (46.2 mm), Lodhi Road (34.0 mm), Ayanagar (38.8 mm) and Ridge (19.6 mm)," the weatherman said.

Waterlogging was reported from several parts of the national capital including many traffic intersections. "Waterlogging complaints were received from areas such as Wazirabad flyover, Barapullah, Adchini traffic intersection, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Lodhi Road, IGNOU Road, Bhagwan Dass Road, AIIMS, Rajokri flyover among others," an official at the Traffic Control Room said.

A MeT official said that the temperature recorded at 2:30 pm was 26 degrees Celsius, while the humidity reached 95 per cent.

The forecast for maximum temperature tomorrow is 34 degrees Celsius. "Cloudy skies with rains and thundershowers in Delhi and parts of the national capital region is also expected tomorrow," the weatherman said.
