Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has warned all private FM channels to start broadcasting Marathi songs within seven days or else 'face the music'.
"It has been noticed that many FM channels do not play Marathi songs. They should start airing them in a week or else Sena would launch an agitation," Thackeray said in a statement in Mumbai.
"Nowadays anyone gets up and betrays Maharashtra... radio stations are added to this list now," Thackeray said.
Any radio station not complying with his directive would face 'Sena-style' agitation, the Sena chief said.
Reacting to Thackeray's statement, noted musician Koustub Inamdar said, "It is good if FM channels wake up after Sena chief's remarks. What is really needed is Marathi audience listeners wake up."
