On way home from work, she was allegedly gang-raped, then thrown naked on the road

The woman says she was dragged into a car while returning from work.

Gurgaon: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and dumped on a road in the heart of the satellite town of Gurgaon near Delhi last night.

The police say they received a call at around 10 pm about the woman. She was found naked and unconscious near the upscale Sushant Lok area, with injuries on her body, a swollen lip and bruises on her face.

In her complaint to the police, the woman, who is married and works at a garment factory, said she was returning from work at around 8 pm when a car stopped and she was dragged into it by four or five men inside.

The men allegedly forced her to drink alcohol and after taking her to an isolated spot, took turns to rape her. They finally dumped her on the road.

The cops say the woman refused a medical test yesterday as she was shaken, but based on her injuries, a case of gang-rape has been registered.

The case raises fresh concerns about the safety of women in the capital and its neighbouring areas, despite tough policing and laws implemented after the fatal gang-rape of a young medical student in Delhi last year. Four men were sentenced to death in the case a fortnight ago, with the judge commenting on the 'hair-raising and beastly' attack on the girl.
