email

MumbaiThe Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), managed by GVK Group, said on Wednesday that it has commissioned a new exit taxiway that will help save up to 10 seconds of occupancy time for aircraft on the congested runway.

The rapid exit taxiway (RET) N5, located on the northern side of the primary runway 09-27, will reduce the arrival ROT (runway occupancy time) by 9-10 seconds, a statement from the Mumbai airport said.

The 415-metre-long taxiway can facilitate all wide-bodied aircraft, including the Airbus A380, the statement added.

A JetLite Boeing 737 was the first aircraft to utilise the runway at 11:37 am today and was given the "water salute".
