Man kills three daughters, shoots wife in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: A retired soldier on Wednesday shot dead his three minor daughters and injured his wife in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, police said.

Mahendra, who retired from the army about three years ago, opened fire after a verbal spat with his wife in Nagladeep village near Maant town in Mathura district, 385 kilometres from Lucknow.

While the girls - aged 6 to 13 - died of bullet injuries, the wife was admitted to hospital where her condition was stated to be serious. The man was arrested.
