Hoshiarpur:  A man allegedly burnt his two minor sons to death and tried to kill his wife in a similar manner before attempting suicide in the Dasuya area near here, police said today.

Jaswinder Singh, a mason, had a fight with his family over dowry, and in a fit of rage, he burnt alive his two sons Lovpreet (6) and Lakhwinder (5) in his house at Kallowal village last night, SHO Onkar Singh Brar said.

Later, he set himself and his 33-year-old wife Narinder Kaur ablaze. Both were rushed to the civil hospital.

In her statement to the police, his wife alleged that Jaswinder used to torture her for dowry.
