Kota: BJP legislator from Kota, Prahlad Gunjal, is in the middle of a controversy after an alleged phone conversation - in which he threatened the Chief Medical and Health Officer of Kota (CMHO) - went viral.

The conversation begins with Mr Gunjal announcing himself, he then goes on to abuse the Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr RN Yadav, over not posting a male nurse, where the MLA wanted him to.

The nurse was recently removed from the health centre he was posted at in Sangod in Kota district after alleged irregularities in the purchase and storage of medicines. He reportedly wanted to be posted back to health centre from where he was shunted out.

The CMHO apparently did not comply with the wish, leading to the MLA personally calling and threatening him. The conversation which is littered with abuses, also carries threats to the doctor's family. Dr Yadav has now filed a First Information Report or FIR against the MLA and has resigned in protest from his post.

In the phone conversation, the MLA can allegedly be heard abusing the doctor, threatening to shave his hair off in the office itself and threatening to skin him alive and hit him with shoes.

The police will provide security to the medical officer and have said an investigation into the matter will be conducted.

Doctors in Kota, meanwhile, have announced a two-hour strike on Friday in protest against the MLA's behavior and are demanding his arrest.

Mr Gunjal was unavailable for comment the entire day today; his mobile phone remained switched off.
